Can I please just rip the contents of my house out like a tablecloth after a feast? I do not have time to clean it and there is no one else to do it. Most days I can either be a good parent (outings! attention! games! singing! art!) or have a clean kitchen.
If we could just start over maybe I’d have a chance…
I’m going to bed now.
Something that occasionally works for us is having the little ones help with the cleaning. Sure, it takes a lot longer and not everything gets done. But toddlers love love love to do what the big people do. So why not give your little guy a damp cloth and a spray bottle and let him have at the kitchen table? The kitchen sink is another great place for little ones to help. James was always a big fan of “washing” the dishes. Luke has boy-sized brooms, dustpan and mop and cleans the floors. It is tons of fun for them, the kitchen gets somewhat cleaner and they learn a whole lot by doing it.
E helps us clean up at night. It helps that they have the kids help clean up at daycare, too, so he’s used to it. It doesn’t help much, and our house is still a mess.
I sometimes get so distracted by it that I can’t study at home. It’s really annoying.
Oh, how I wish for a ‘do over,’ too.
During the past six months, I’ve tweaked (and mastered) the art of picking my battles. The dishes will be there tomorrow, as will the dirty laundry. Attention to the kids will ALWAYS win out 🙂
The weeks/months/years go by soo fast..
I wish I’d prioritized like this ages ago. xo A
